The inequalities all around the world.

article by ♥ Tatiana , Emma & Angélique  ♥
I.            Different kind of inequalities.
 a.      Overeating.

The Overeating is a standard problem in a lot of countries. Indeed, the food needs are about 2500 kcal but many people eat much too much and exceed the limit.

This overeating leads to obesity: a health problem who can cause cardiac problems and a lot of others diseases (diabetes, cholesterol…) and be dangerous for our life. A man is considerate as an obese when his Body Mass Index (BMI) is over than 30. The BMI is the body mass divided by the square of the body height.

The places the most concern by overfeeding are the North countries: this places can cultivate a lot of fields, buy chemical products to have more products to the detriment of quality. So, the habitants of these countries buy a great deal of these cheap and fat foods.  The country the most affects by the overeating is the United States with approximately 30 % of obesity in its population. The food rich in fat and full of OGM are the principal cause of the obesity in this country.

To fight against this health problem, a healthy alimentation and practicing sport are important elements to stop overeating.

The inequalities all around the world.

b.     Undernourishment.

Undernourishment is an issue currently present all around the world. A person is guesswork underfed when she is not able to get enough food to reach the daily minimum dietary energy requirement over one year (2400 kcal for a day).

   Nowadays,

-  --805 million of person in the world suffer from the hunger, in other words, one human on tree go to bed hungry each night.

- --795 million of person are undernourished, just over one in nine people.

-  --More than 25 000 people die every day of sub-nutrition.

- --Hunger kills more people each year than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

-  --The vast majority of hungry people, 780 out of 795 million, live in developing countries.

-  --In sub-Saharan Africa, one in every four people of the population are hungry.

The inequalities all around the world.

There are many reasons for the presence of hunger in the world:

-     -    poverty trap

-     -   lack of investment in agriculture

-     -    climate and weather

-     -   war end displacement

-     -   unstable markets

-     -   food wastage

The inequalities all around the world.

The inequalities all around the world.

The inequalities all around the world.

So leave out your little worries and fight against the undernourishment

  II.            Bad food’s distribution.

a)    Contrast between North and South.

The States most concerned by undernourishment (less than 2400 kcal for a day) are located in Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and some of them in Latin America.

The States where the calorie requirements are enough (but whose the food situation can be precarious) are located in South Asia and Latin America.

The States where the calorie requirements are raised even too high (more than 2800 kcal far a day) are the developed and emergent States of the planet.

The food energy ration is uneven and raised in the world. Indeed, 3300 kcal in the developed countries, 2700 in developing countries and 2800 for the whole world.

The inequalities all around the world.

We can most speak about overeating in the majority of developed countries (North) and in some developing countries.

Undernourishment is not specific to the South countries but it is there that it is the most situated. Indeed, the number of underfed people in the world is about 795 million among which 780 million in developing countries and 15 million in the developed countries.

The inequalities all around the world.

Germany: The Melander family of Bargtehideide      2 adults & 2 teenagers    Food expenditure for one week: 375.39€  or $500.07

The inequalities all around the world.

United States: The Revis family of North Carolina    2 adults & 2 teenagers  Food expenditure for one week: $341.98

The inequalities all around the world.

Bhutan: The Namgay family of Shingkhey Village     7 adults & 6 kids Food expenditure for one week: 224.93 ngultrum or $5.03

The inequalities all around the world.

Chad: The Aboubakar family of Breidjing Camp  3 adults & 3 kids  Food expenditure for one week: 685 CFA Francs     or $1.23

b)    Causes of this distribution.

In the worldwide, inequalities are present. Indeed, in many countries and continents the question of the starvation is a big issue. But this problem can be different between countries.

The situations are influenced by the weather. Furthermore, in some countries temperature is so high and people doesn't have enough water to conserve his plantations. So some people are luckier than others thanks to the weather conditions.

The wars can be also reasons of difference about nourishment. Wars destroy resources of a country during some years or about a small time but to refund a pleasant life in this place it's necessary long and difficult years.

In the world, during a year more people died because of the lack of food than AIDS or malaria. Although nowadays, inequalities are less present, some people are not able to product nourishment to feed his family because they have any fields. So there is a huge gap between countries where habitants are living in good conditions and between habitants in a same country.

Up now, humans are in competitions. Although animals grow, farmers give to their farms animals cereals likes soya and not all farmers can give that because this crop is damaging their only fields that they have. We can say in some part of the world farmers and the economic is in crisis.

III.            Conclusion.

To conclude, our world is full of food inequalities. On one hand with underfeeds in the southern countries and on the other hand with overfeeds in the northern countries. Approximately 1 billion people don’t have enough to eat every day and 1.5 billion people eat much than they should.

The reasons of these inequalities can be weather conditions or natural disaster that can bring about starvation. They’re also in relation with economical level of the country. A lot of questions are asking about how to change this situation. A sustainable agriculture with less chemical products and a gesture for the hungry people from the northern countries will be helpful: with 25 cents a day, a hungry child would be saved.
